Gharial necklace, 2020

Cartier dares to incorporate unexpected creatures in its menagerie. The crocodile being one of them. The jeweller reinterprets the roughness of its scales, the brightness of its green eyes and, pushing it to the point of abstraction, turns it into a work of High Jewellery. Diamonds of different cuts form the architecture of this piece. The emeralds closest to the neck draw the eye to the pendant: an asymmetrical waterfall of diamonds totalling 6.90 carats combined with Zambian emeralds (five of which total 11.31 carats).
